The European Union provides a central contact service and a network of centres across the EU that offer information and assistance services to the public.
Some centres provide general information about the EU; others offer advice and specialised services on EU programmes and topics. Find the centre best suited to your question by consulting the categories below.
EUROPE DIRECT centres bring the European Union closer to citizens at local level. These centres can answer your questions about the EU. They engage with citizens and stakeholders to foster greater involvement in the European project.
EU Offices in Italy
European Commission Representation in Italy
In Italy, the European Commission’s Representation is based in Rome and Milan and has a dual role: to communicate Europe in Italy and Italy in Europe.
In particular, it works to:
- explain to Italian citizens how EU policies affect their everyday lives;
- inform citizens about the rights enjoyed by EU citizens and how to exercise them;
- offer information on European topics for political institutions, economic and social stakeholders, civil society, and the education sector;
- relay to the press and media information on developments in EU policies;
- represent the European Commission in Italy;
- update headquarters in Brussels on political, economic and social developments in Italy.
The Representation’s activities are complemented by Europe Direct centres, which provide information and engage with citizens at regional and local level throughout the EU. The Representation works closely with the European Parliament’s Liaison Offices in the Member States.
European Parliament Office in Italy
The European Parliament’s Information Office in Italy (with offices in Rome and Milan) has the primary task of informing citizens about the activities of the European Parliament and its Members, facilitating contacts between citizens and the Assembly they have elected.
